The delayed AM residential weekend is happening! Book now!

From the Area Meeting Residential Area Meeting Arrangements Group

"Area Meeting usually holds an autumn residential weekend every three years. This was postponed last year, because of the pandemic. It’s therefore especially important that we have an opportunity to spend some time together as a Quaker community, getting to know one another better, learning new things, sharing our experiences and inspirations. Jennifer Kavanagh has agreed to speak to us and lead a follow up session. She is an author, whose recent book, Let Me Take You by the Hand: True Tales from London's Streets, looks at communities in contemporary London. Jennifer has also developed a boardgame Journey Home and a card game called The Prayer Game. We will also be joined by Bev Smith, the Quaker Local Development Worker for East Anglia. One of Bev’s particular interests is mental health and well-being within meetings, so she will offer a workshop exploring these issues. The weekend gathering will include a children's programme, all- age activities, music, creative art and poetry, local walks, as well as many opportunities for talking together and reflecting. There will be a Saturday evening bonfire and an opportunity for anyone to offer entertainment. We hope the weekend will be shaped by the participants: together we can create a vibrant and responsive community."
